Bob at About Age 20 At age 19, Bob left Minnesota for California, because he didn't like winter weather. His father hoped he would return and help run the company, but Bob wanted to stay in California. He would, of course, visit his parents on occasion. When Bob was 26, one day he was with his dad in the office at the Raymer Hardware Company when his dad suddenly slumped over. He'd had a cerebral hemorrhage and died shortly thereafter, leaving Bob to take over the company, which had 100 employees. The company attorney, who was also a friend of the family, took Bob under his wing and was an enormous help to Bob as he assumed his duties as the young president of the company. He was back in Minnesota, but not to stay. Preferring a warmer climate, Bob ended up selling the company and relocating to sunny California with his wife and young son. He returned to flying, his first love.
